He was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2009 NBA draft, and then traded to the Miami Heat for a future 2011 second round draft pick and an undisclosed amount of cash. In 2007, Beverley appeared in the movie ''Hoop Reality'', the sequel to ''Hoop Dreams'', with Arthur Agee. He also appeared in the 2004 MTV Nike Battlegrounds series, and played for the Chicago team at age 16. He played college basketball at the University of Arkansas. In the 2008–09 season, he played in the Ukrainian Second Division with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
